The KYC’s mission is to work in partnership with young people in Central Ohio to create safe and empowering environments for LGBTQ youth through advocacy, education and support. The center is located in the OSU campus area of Columbus.
The Huckleberry House provides a safe place and licensed crisis counselors for young people in the Central Ohio area.
If you can get to a White Castle Restaurant, a Columbus Fire Station, or a 24 hour Kroger store, tell an employee you need Safe Place Help. They will contact the Huckleberry House and arrange to get you there safely.
If you are unsure where the closest Safe Place site is, you can Txt 4 Help. Just text to 69866 and enter SAFE into your phone and your current location (street address, city, state) they will text you back within seconds the closest safe place location for you. The THRIVE program specializes in providing medical care to youth ages 12-21 who are dealing with differences/disorders of sexual development, complex urological, and gender concerns. You can reach THRIVE at (614) 722-5765 or via e-mail at THRIVE@NationwideChildrens.org.
This local LGBT organization provides programs and services to the LGBT community of Central Ohio. Additionally, their website offers a number of other resources—both locally and on a larger scale.
TransOhio serves the Ohio transgender and ally communities by providing services, education, support and advocacy which promotes and improves the health, safety and life experience of the Ohio transgender individual and community.
BRAVO serves as a link to survivor advocacy and assistance regarding hate crimes, discrimination, domestic violence, and sexual assault. GSA Network is a national youth leadership organization that connects school-based Gay-Straight Alliances (GSAs) to each other and community resources through peer support, leadership development, and training.
The Bisexual Resource Center creates resources, provides support, and helps to create a stronger sense of community for bi/pan/fluid people across the U.S. and beyond. The BRC is an inclusive nonprofit organization which uses ‘bisexual’ as an umbrella term for sexual and/or emotional attraction to more than one gender.
