DCDL Audio Booth

DCDL Audio Booth

DCDL Audio Booths are sound isolation enclosures that can be used for a variety of audio needs including recording, webinars, voice-over work, translation services, radio and podcasting, Skype calls, interviews, audiology testing, and more. The booths themselves can fit two to three individuals and come equipped with many standard audio amenities. All DCDL Audio Booth users are encouraged to participate in a brief tutorial prior to using the rooms.

DCDL Audio Booths are located at the Delaware Main and Orange Branch libraries. Patrons may reserve a space for 2 hours at a time and will need to bring their own form of data storage (flash drive, external hard drive or cloud-based storage system).

It is important to note that the DCDL Audio Booths are not entirely soundproof, but greatly decreases the amount of noise from outside the room and in. Watch the demo below for an example.

Rules:

  • At Delaware: Space may be reserved by speaking with the individual working in the computer lab.
  • At Orange: Space may be reserved by speaking with a Circulation Associate at the front desk.
  • Audio Booth may be reserved for a period of no longer than 2 hours at a time.
  • Patron must provide either personal keys or driver’s license in exchange for the key to the Audio Booth.
  • If planning to record audio that you need to take with you, some form of data storage (flash drive, portable hard drive, Dropbox) must be used. Keep in mind that flash/hard drives will need to be formatted in MS-DOS (FAT) to work on both Windows and Mac. Computer will be restarted between sessions, erasing any and all data that was recorded to it in the last session.
  • A patron may have only two reservations on file at a time.
  • Absolutely no food or drink (aside from a capped water bottle) in Audio Booth.
  • Room will be inspected by a staff member after each use.
  • Any use of the room that violates the library’s code of conduct will result in immediate termination of session and permanent ban from using the space.

More troubleshooting and information can be found at this tutorial. Please go through the entire lesson before using the DCDL Audio Booth.
