Make a Tesla Coil
Back in 1891 Nicola Tesla designed the Tesla coil, which was used to produce high frequency radio waves and high energy sparks what he called his "System of Electric Lightning." Today you'll see them in museums, at science centers and even at entertainment festivals like Coachella. Join us at the Library to see a high voltage Tesla coil live in person, learn how it launched the revolution of radio communications that made the world we live in today possible and make your own Tesla coil to take home! Learn about Amateur Radio, electronics and the evolution of radio communication technology. You’ll also be introduced to Morse Code and hear your creation send it through an AM radio. All supplies will be provided. Teens only, please.
Special thanks to the Delaware Amateur Radio Association for providing this program.
