Call for Entries Open for Senior Showcase 2021

Who do you know that is age 55 or over and has an artistic calling in their life? The Senior Showcase: Art After 55 juried art exhibit and competition is back again this fall. The planning team, consisting of representatives from The Arts Castle, Willow Brook Christian Communities, and the Delaware County District Library, had to put plans for the 2020 gallery show on halt, but there were many artists who had already submitted their entries and were accepted into the show.

The 2021 show will feature artists who were accepted for the 2020 gallery. The show will also open a brief window to accept new entries. Artists ages 55 and older may enter up to three original pieces, made within the last three years, for a jurying fee range of $10-20. Entries will be accepted through Friday, July 30 at 5:00 p.m.

Entry forms are available for pick-up at all Delaware County District Library locations, the Arts Castle, or can be downloaded at www.delawarelibrary.org/seniorshowcase. Entries can be made in 2D and 3D categories, including things like painting, drawing, photography, ceramics, sculpture, jewelry and fibers.

The exhibit kicks off at the Arts Castle on August 28 with a reception just for the artists and the guests. It will run through October 23 and be open for the public to view during the Arts Castle’s regular operating hours. Winning entries will earn the artists cash prizes and the opportunity to have their winning pieces go “on tour” throughout the county after the initial exhibit closes.

The winning pieces will then be showcased at Willow Brook Delaware Run, and will end their tour at the Orange Branch of the Delaware County District Library.

If you or someone you know has any questions about the exhibit or call for entries, send an email to castle.seniorshowcase@gmail.com.
